Student Helper Program
The voluntary student helper scheme is principally to enable students to gain a wider understanding of research in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The scheme does not form part of the degree program, nor is it compulsory for any student to take part in. Students who are in the first or second year of the Biochemistry (major/minor), Bioinformatics or Bioengineering program are all welcome to apply.
It is expected that through the participation of this scheme, students will have a chance to acquire some actual experience in research in various subject areas of biochemistry, cell biology, molecular genetics, and transgenic technology. The scheme is especially useful for those who intend to select the BIOC3614 (final year project course) in their degree program. Students admitted to this scheme will participate in research work that is currently taking place in a research laboratory, and they may choose to work for only a short interval of time or throughout the entire academic year.
Interested students should fill in the following application form. For the first year students please fill in the grades for the AL/AS subjects. You are encouraged to discuss with individual teaching staff with regard to the work that you would like to perform in the laboratory.
Information concerning the research interest of individual departmental member can be obtained by browsing the Biochemistry department website, or through direct consultation with a teaching staff. Once received, your application will be considered by the teaching staff concerned and a decision will be made known to you as soon as possible.
